FAQs

Why should I use Bow and Arrow Adventures to book my hunt?

Bow and Arrow Adventures is a professional hunting consultant agency that organizes hunts for our clients throughout North America and the world. We are obsessed with locating and partnering with the absolute very best hunting companies and operations in the business today. We only work with operations that CONSISTENTLY produce shot opportunities on trophy class animals each and every year and are also intimately familiar with what it takes for a bowhunter to be successful.

When it comes to choosing a hunting operation to book with it can be a very challenging undertaking. Booking just off of references from a specific operation and or a family member or friends experience is simply not enough to justify spending thousands of dollars. We have a consistent track record over many years in providing our clients the best possible places to hunt for the given species he or she is looking for. We know which areas, counties, units and zones consistently produce record book quality animals. We only work with operations that are executing this standard with excellence consistently. It is these operations that are doing the best job of pursuing these animals all while controlling and managing the aspects of the hunt that can be controlled.

OUR SERVICES ARE FREE TO YOU! The outfitters and operations that we work with pay us to provide them with like minded clients who are looking for the right experience and matched to their business. We are very good at what we do and have a lengthy track record to prove it. It would take years to compile the wealth of information and data that we already have and it’s all available to you for FREE. You will pay the exact same amount with us as you would in booking directly with the outfitter and we can also assist you with multiple species and destinations all over the world…all under one umbrella.

Perhaps the better question is...Why wouldn’t you want to use our services?

How do I start the process?

Very simple. Contact us to begin discussing the species you are looking for and the goals and expectations that you have for the hunt. We will then discuss hunt conditions, trophy potential as well as shot opportunity and much more. Then we will provide you with recent references and finally available hunt dates. Upon deciding on a hunt and being ready to book we will email you a hunt contract which you will need to fill out and send back to us with your deposit. Upon receiving your contract and deposit we will notify you of it’s arrival and forward it on to your given outfitter or hunting company.

Why do I fill out a contract with Bow and Arrow Adventures as well as the outfitter?

The contract you fill out with us acknowledges the services and trip you are purchasing as well the release of liability that ALL outfitters and guides have their clients adhere to. It is no different with us. The outfitter or operation will also e-mail you or provide once you arrive in camp his or her contract and release of liability for the exact same reasons. This is just a formality of doing business and we try our best to make it as efficient and effortless as possible.

Is my deposit refundable?

Sadly no. Deposits are a financial commitment that you are securing and committing to a specific week of hunting. Once that spot or spots for you and or your group are taken we then pass on booking other clients for that specific week and location. We encourage everyone to purchase trip cancellation insurance. We understand that circumstances can change and family emergencies can (God forbid) come up at anytime. We will always do whatever we can to try and assist in those difficult times. Often a hunt can be rolled over to a following year so that way when the opportunity arises you can still enjoy the trip you booked…just at a later date. Please contact us with peace of mind in knowing we will help to the best of our abilities but deposits and hunt payments ARE NOT refundable.

Am I guaranteed to get an animal or at least a shot opportunity?

No. There are no guarantees when it comes to this. We all want to be successful and at Bow and Arrow Adventures we will do everything that is in our control to help you be. That being said you need to know that purchasing a hunt is never purchasing an animal when it comes to hunting fair chase, wild animals in truly wild places. Our clients continue to be very successful and our shot opportunity rate is consistently around 80% most every year for all species we represent. Ultimately if the shot prevents itself then that is squarely on your shoulders to execute it.

How many hunters will be in camp?

This varies greatly from destination to destination. We will go over the specifics of what you can expect regarding the specific hunts you are looking at pertaining to camp size. We work with QUALITY operations and some are larger than others. The caliber and quality of any of the hunts you can do with us will not be determined by the size of camp but rather the effort you are willing to put forward to be successful. We ONLY work with managed, reputable operations that focus on the safety and quality of the hunt for each and every client. It will be no different for you. Please let us know what your expectations are on the front end if camp size is a concern.

What equipment and gear will I need?

Again this can vary greatly depending on the hunt you choose. We will always have you be in contact with the given outfitter you have chosen to hunt with and we will also be in touch with you before your adventure begins to make sure you are as prepared as possible to get to camp with everything you need and focus on the task at hand during your hunt. Both the outfitter and Bow and Arrow Adventures will send you out a suggested equipment list and touch base with you on that before you leave.

What is the weather typically like?

We will go over this with you on the front end based on past client experiences and weather patterns during that time. We will also be in touch just prior to departure to go over any last questions as well as current weather conditions and the potential forecast. Mother nature can turn on us at the drop of a hat (especially on remote mountain hunts) so pack accordingly for the unexpected.

How do I get my trophy or trophies home?

In most every situation your outfitter will be able to recommend a local meat processor and also a talented taxidermist to provide these services. You may have a taxidermist that you prefer to do your work and arrangements can be made to have your trophy shipped accordingly. Once your meat is processed it can also be shipped back to your home in most all North American situations. If you drive we can walk you through the best possible way to get back home with your horns, cape and meat successfully.

How do I get my license and tags?

Both the given outfitter and Bow and Arrow Adventures will be in contact with you regarding this process. In most every situation the outfitter and or BNAA will walk you through the process or handle it on your behalf with the documents that you will need to provide. We are with you through the entire process to help make sure you are fully prepared.

Advice for your next adventure.

Realistic Expectations:

Who wouldn’t want to shoot the next world record? The answer is…we ALL would. Base your hunt on realistic expectations and you will be far better off. I often get asked questions like “what are my chances of shooting a 180” Whitetail or a B&C Mule Deer?” My response now is always the same. “How many years are you willing to commit to bowhunting with us to possibly even see a buck of that caliber in the wild…let alone in bow range.” For any of us to take an animal of that caliber we are taking a trophy of a LIFETIME. Does it happen? Of course it can and does…but not very often. If you are committed to only hunting the extreme top end animals than you also must commit to hunting where those animals exist and hunting there often. That’s just the way it is. Don’t hunt in an average area and expect to encounter an above average trophy. Be transparent with us about your expectations and what you want to accomplish. From there we can get down to the business of building your next Bow and Arrow Adventure around your personal hunting goals.

Please don’t guide the guide:

This is a pet peeve of almost every guide and professional hunter I know. Some client hunters are compelled to pay a guide for their services then promptly try to usurp control from the hunting professional. You may very well be a successful hunter in many aspects of the species you are pursuing. That being said unless you have hunted the specific area, unit, zone, farm, ranch or property FOR YEARS that your paying for…then you should probably leave the guiding to the guide. YOU need your guide and it would be a wise choice for you to trust he or she. Tell them what your goals and expectations are. BE REALISTIC with topics such as comfortable shooting range and physical abilities. This is the last situation you should ever overstate what you can actually do. Such as taking a 60 yard shot on a Mule Deer if the furthest you ever shoot at the archery range is 40 yards. Lastly I want to encourage you to connect with your guide. Get to know them and enjoy the moments you have with them. Build a rapport with them. Tell them you are willing to work extremely hard to earn that shot opportunity and that your committed to doing so. If you do that then your guide will work extremely hard for you. He or she want’s you to be successful. It’s your job to actually help make that happen.

Sorry…no guarantees:

This is a tough one I know. You are spending A LOT of money and expect something to show for it. It is critically important to remember that purchasing a guided hunt is NOT purchasing an animal. When hunting wild game, there’s always a chance that you’ll come home empty-handed. There are some cases where the fault lies with the guide, but in many cases weather, temperature, lack of activity or simple bad luck results in an unfilled tag. As long as the guide is doing their best to help you succeed (which is the case with almost all reputable guides), don’t spend your time blaming your hunting professional for every setback. Sometimes you get lucky, and sometimes the animal eludes you; that’s hunting. Pointing the finger at your guide in those situations isn’t going to help anyone. We hunt wild animals in wild places and the outfitters and companies we represent are among the absolute very best in the business PERIOD! That being said there are still NO GUARANTEES! If you need that then we are NOT the operation for you.

Poor Shooting:

This one is ALL ON YOU! The absolute number one mistake I have seen client’s make time and time again is a poor shot. Not saying that mistakes don’t happen. I have made several myself over the years and it has cost me some wounded pride and wounded trophies that were sadly not recovered. Nobody’s fault but mine and the same will apply to you. I can’t encourage you enough to shoot as often as possible to replicate the exact type of situation you will be hunting in. If you are booking a Texas Whitetail hunt you better practice shooting seated from a dark blind. If a guided Elk hunt is on the docket then practice shooting up hill and down hill with angles and cants. If you are a western hunter going out on your first whitetail hunt then get in a tree stand and start shooting. Booking an Antelope hunt over a decoy during the rut…better practice shooting from your knees and shooting a little quicker than usual. You have to be prepared and if your not ready for the shot then that one is solely on you. Practice shooting in your camo and even with the gear on you will be hunting in. When running and gunning after some Elk on their way to bed you wont have time to take your pack and other equipment off. So shoot with it on and know how and what that will do to your shooting form. Spend time shooting in camp while you are taking a break back at the lodge at lunch and most importantly shoot ASAP when you first get to camp and make sure your equipment wasn’t damaged in transit. BE READY!!!

Bad Attitude:

What are you paying for when you book a hunt? You’re paying for the assistance and expertise of a guide and for the experience. You are not, in most cases, paying to harvest an animal. Sure, we’d all like to succeed, but that isn’t always the case, and if you go home empty-handed, that doesn’t mean your guide has automatically failed you. Exceptional animals are just that—exceptional. Enjoy the experience and be satisfied with a good hunt, especially if you’re fortunate enough to harvest a good animal.

In Closing:

We are very good at what we do and it’s OUR job to make certain that you are hunting with the right people…in the right places…at the right times. Let US prove to YOU why so many clients trust us for all of their traveling, guided bowhunt’s. We have done the home work so you don’t have to and we LOVE what we do!

Please contact us to discuss any questions you have about our bowhunting adventures here in North America and around the World. We look forward to helping you accomplish your personal bowhunting goals.
