Alaska Trophy Dall Sheep Guided Archery Hunts with our friend and outfitter in Alaska are as good as you will find in the State period! Finding an outfitter who is confident with taking an archery Sheep client is hard enough. Finding an outfitter who has taken not 1 but numerous TROPHY DALL SHEEP WITH STICK AND STRING himself is something you just don’t find…until now. We have a long time working relationship with this outfitter in Alaska. He is a very talented and driven bowhunter himself with several P&Y class Rams under his belt and has guided clients to their own shot opportunities on BIG MATURE RAMS. Not just the outfitter, but some of his guides are also proficient with guiding a bowhunter in for the shot of a lifetime at one of these magnificent animals. Quality Dall Sheep hunts are in high demand and choosing the right outfitter is paramount for a bowhunting client. Sheep live in tough country and often times more difficult then the physical challenges are the mental challenges that seem to come with bowhunting TROPHY SHEEP! This unique outfitter gets these challenges and we feel is the absolute best option you will find in all of Alaska for Dall Sheep.

Shot opportunity varies from year to year based on a clients ability to get around in the mountains and mental toughness. That being said if a client can be in the best physical shape he or she can possibly be in, and prepared for the mental game with Sheep hunting, then you stand a very good chance at getting a shot opportunity at a mature Ram. Again it is critically important to be in the absolute best shape possible for any Sheep hunt…this one is no different. All this being said our outfitter and his team excel at finding and getting clients in range for their chance at a dream Ram. YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO DO YOUR PART IN GETTING TO THE SHEEP AND PUT FORTH THE EFFORT.

These Dall Sheep hunts take place on the Southern Slopes of the Central Brooks Range. Terrain in this area is very mild by Dall Sheep standards in other parts of Alaska and holds a very high density of Sheep. They utilize ridge tops, and gravel bars for most of the landing areas, and access to the areas are by Supercub bush plane. All hunts are backpack hunts, but many of the drop locations will allow for day hunts. They also utilize air food drops, which allows our hunters to carry much less weight than a traditional backpack hunt. Most years, you will be the only hunter that hunts from a particular location. Every year prior to the start of the sheep season these guys conduct an aerial survey of their entire guide area. This not only ensures that we are hunting the most productive areas each fall but it also allows us to know and understand the natural fluctuations in the Sheep populations. Rams in this area average 35 - 38” with 13 - 13.5” bases. Most of these rams will score in the 150’s but much larger rams have been harvested. Over the last 7 years or so the Rams taken by this outfitter have averaged over 9 years old, and many seasons they will average over 10 years old. The hunts are 10 days in duration and 8 actual days of hunting. Grizzly Bear can be harvested on a trophy fee of $5000 if you purchase a tag prior to your hunt. Wolf may be harvested for free and no tag is currently required for these units. Longer multi species combination hunts are available. Did you know that non-residents can only harvest 1 ram every 4 years in Alaska? That’s yet another reason to hunt with us and go after a dandy.

You will fly into Fairbanks Alaska. A brief stay over night may be needed before your next leg of travel. From Fairbanks, you will fly to Coldfoot, Alaska. The outfitter will pick you up in Coldfoot and drive 30 minutes to the Lodge in Wiseman, Alaska. If you choose to take your meat home with you (and Sheep meat is exceptional), let us know ahead of time and they will have meat boxes available and will freeze your meat prior to your departure. If you choose to take your cape and horns home with you, you will need to plan on half a day during normal business hours in Fairbanks to get your sheep sealed prior to leaving Alaska. Your cape will be turned, fleshed, and salted in camp and can also be taken home with you. If you choose to leave your trophies with the outfitter, they will deliver your cape and horns to an expediter in Wasilla, Alaska to get your trophy to you and your taxidermist.
